Yep, that’s okra. Usually dished up in gumbo or in fried little balls, okra is one of the only canned foods that I still buy. Fresh is best, but you can get Native Forest Organic Okra in BPA-free cans from Whole Foods, Amazon and other places, I am sure (<$3/can). But WHY ON EARTH would you want to?? Well…

Okra is a great source of vitamins and minerals, but one of it’s best benefits relates to your gut – okra pods help the digestive process and can even relieve constipation if that’s an issue.

And they’re EASY! You can plop them right out on a plate and use your fingers to eat them.
